PLEASE NOTE WE ARE NOT TAKING IN ANY OWNER SURRENDERS AT THIS TIME.
PawZabilities PA Surrender Policy
At PawZabilities PA, we take in owner surrenders under certain conditions. While we are committed to helping dogs in need, surrendering a pet is a serious decision and not a simple process. We strive to support you in reconsidering if possible and will assist with resources to help you keep your dog if that’s an option.
Surrender Requirements:
- Meet & Documentation: We require a meet and up-to-date medical records, including proof of vaccinations (DAPP, Rabies, Bordetella) and a current heartworm test within the last 6 months. All records should be emailed to pawzabilitiespa@gmail.com.
- Surrender Fees: If your dog is not spayed or neutered, a fee is required:
- $150 for dogs under 11 months
- $250 for dogs over 12 months Fees can be paid via our website or in cash; checks are not accepted. If you cannot afford the fee, a PayPal invoice will be issued with finance charges applied after 30 days and collection proceedings after 90 days.
- Medical Up-to-Date: For PawZabilities dogs, if they are not current on vaccines or heartworm tests, you are responsible for bringing them up-to-date. If heartworm positive, treatment costs must be covered.
- Trainer Consult: A trainer consult is required to certify the dog is not aggressive. If you haven’t consulted a trainer, we strongly advise doing so.
- Patience & Cooperation: Surrendering a dog can take time as we arrange for medical care and foster placements. We ask for your patience and cooperation in providing current pictures and bringing the dog to adoption events to increase re-homing chances.
Note: We do not accept aggressive dogs and our process ensures that we prioritize the safety of our foster families and other pets.
Thank you for understanding our commitment to responsible pet rehoming.
